Leeds is a great city for shopping. Head to the Corn Exchange or look around the
many vintage shops for something out of the ordinary. There's a new shopping centre
being built right now, which aims to be finished by next year (2013). It's going
to be the size of 13 football pitches so you're bound to find everything you need
under one roof.
Arts and culture
Leeds is packed full of culture, which is shown by its many art galleries, stately
homes, museums and theatres. There's open air public entertainment for all ages
such as Party in the Park, Opera in the Park and Classical Fantasia. Leeds is also
home to the West Yorkshire Playhouse, which stages more productions than any other
theatre outside London.
History and heritage
Leeds is the major city it is today thanks to its wool industry in the 16th and
17th centuries. There are also many museums so you can easily find out about Leeds'
history and exciting past. The Royal Armouries national museum has recently opened
up here and houses the nation's collection of armoury and historic weaponry. There's
also the Henry Moore Institute and Gallery as the famous sculptor was born in the

If crazy nightlife is what you're after then head to Call Lane where you'll find
so many cool bars you'll be spoilt for choice. Back To Basics and Speedqueen are
two of the famous clubs that everyone should try. If you're a fan of live music
you've come to the right place. Every evening you'll find many different gigs on
offer so check out the listings and see if any appeal to you.
If you're into football then why not buy tickets for a Leeds United game? If it's
not your thing, don't despair as Leeds is known for its sporting heritage so there
are lots of alternatives. There are also the Leeds Rhinos (the rugby league team)
and Leeds Carnegie (the rugby union team) and don't forget the city is also home
to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club. There are over 20 golf courses around the
city so head there if you want to do some sport yourself.
