Kerala

Situated in southernmost part, Kerala is the most beautiful State in India. It is bordered in the east by Western Ghats, to the west is Arabian Sea, and to the south is Kanyakumari. The state is blessed with 44 rivers. There are 5 national parks, 16 wildlife sanctuaries, and 2 biosphere reserves. Kerala is also known to be the home land of spices.

Kerala enjoys unique geographical features that have made it one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Asia. A pleasant climate, a long shoreline with serene beaches, tranquil stretches of emerald backwaters, lush hill stations and exotic wildlife, waterfalls sprawling plantations and paddy fields, all make the state as “God’s Own Country”.

Ayurvedic health holidays, enchanting art forms, various poorams and festivals, historic and cultural monuments, exotic cuisine, all of which offer you a unique experience. What is more, each of these charming destinations is only a two hour drive from the other – a unique advantage no other destination can offer.

Another delightful experience while in Kerala is a houseboat cruise. Of late; houseboats come with all comforts of a good hotel including furnished bedrooms, modern toilets, cozy living rooms, a kitchen and even a balcony for angling. And one can always enjoy uninterrupted views of backwater life while staying in a houseboat.

Bestowed with a pleasant climate throughout the year, Kerala is a tropical land with the coast running down its entire length and the Western Ghats forming a protective barrier against the dry winds from up north. The monsoons (June-September & October-November) and summer (February-May) are the seasons markedly experienced here, while winter is only a slight drop in temperature from the normal range of 28-320C. All these unique features make Kerala a haven for tourists.

Most preferred destinations are: Kovalam Beach, Fort Kochi – ancient churches, Alapuzha and Kumarakom for Backwaters and House Boat rides, Munnar – Hill Resorts and Tea plantations, Thekkady Wild Life sanctuary, Varkala, Guruvayur – Pilgrim centres, Thrissur – Poorams and festivals (April – May) and Wayanad – Hill Resorts, etc…
